In this podcast, we talk about the sad absence of trust in our world. It is not unusual for someone to tell me that they have no one that they can really talk to at the deepest level without fear of judgment, without advice and without reprisal. That loneliness makes it impossible to trust.

Most importantly we need to trust ourselves. When you make commitments, do you follow through at all costs? If not, why not? What is the meaning of your word? At the end of the day, all we are is our word. God is completely trustworthy, yet we often spend little time developing that relationship. It is hard to trust someone you don’t know. Learning how to know and trust God and yourself is key.

In this podcast, we talk about that piece of glass that is at the same time necessary and terrifying. We can use the mirror to do just the needed grooming and self-care tasks or we can decide to use it for much deeper work. Which do you choose?

If you look deep into your soul regularly, do you like what you see, or do you want to avert your gaze and make reasons why you don’t measure up to the person you want to be? That feeling may be physical, emotional, or spiritual. Whichever it is, it can keep us from telling ourselves the truth about where we are and what is required to keep moving on the path to the Ultimate Life.

In this podcast, we start with an old cliché “Put One foot in front of the other.” What does that mean? When we are about difficult things in life, there are days or even weeks when we doubt what we are doing or our ability to do it. At those times, we must choose again and again to keep going.

What makes it worth the effort to keep going, no matter what the obstacles? Why would you push past pain, rejection, and disappointment to keep pursuing a vision? You are creating your “Ultimate Life.” That is worth any sacrifice and effort to love and serve others at the highest level. All; the pain and struggle are worth the effort when you know you are using your divine gifts to serve.

In this podcast, we talk about spirituality. Some view that as a taboo subject. I am not speaking of a particular religion. We all know, when we are honest, there is more to life than we see around us. We have all felt the greater power that cradles everything. We know there is something outside us.

Sometimes we rail in frustration because things are not going our way. We claim there can be no God because of suffering and injustice in the world. As frustrating and unfair as that is, we still know that there is power to have if we seek it. How do you go about creating a connection

In this podcast, we talk about the atmosphere of fear that is all around us today. There are uncertainties and unknowns everywhere. How long will COVID remain a threat? Is it even a real threat or is it all a massive conspiracy? Why can’t I tell what is really going on?

How much attention do I need to pay to all the noise? There are a million questions we can ask and only a few can have answers. The real source of fear is the feeling of powerlessness. We feel as if we have no control over what is happing to us now, and what will happen in the future. The antidote is action. You cannot control others, but you absolutely control your thoughts and actions. Take control.

In this podcast, we talk about the blank page of the future. We know in our hearts that the future is blank, yet often we think of it with trepidation. Why is that? We have been trained to fear the unknown. From fear of the dark as children to fear of failure as adults, we fear what we do not know.

The best way to predict the future is to create it. That quote attributed to both Abraham Lincoln and Peter Drucker is a good way to think about and live into your possibility. What do you want to have in the future? What will it take to make it your reality? What can you do today to move in that direction? We often get discouraged because it can’t all be done at once. Nothing good comes easy.

In this podcast we talk about the old adage “The Leopard can’t change its spots.” While it may be difficult to change our physical characteristics, that does not necessarily apply to our internal landscape. The old wisdom is not actually true. You can change, even in deeply fundamental ways.

How is it possible to change who we are? Our memories are collections of old events. jWe believe certain causes and effects are linked. Then we project the future from the past. The truth is the future remains a blank page. You and I can write it as we choose. Science has proven that the brain is capable of rewiring and completely changing habitual responses. Change is possible. Are you Ready?

In this podcast, we talk about belief. Where did our beliefs come from? Much of what we believe comes from our childhood experiences and what we were taught and saw. A great influence is also wielded by the social environment of our past and present. Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

How do you allow belief to color your understanding of the present? As you seek to create your Ultimate Life, how are beliefs you have helping you or holding you back? Beliefs are just beliefs. You can change your beliefs if you want to. If you realize that a belief you have is not serving you any longer, how do you change it? What happens when we try to change a belief, especially one that is deeply held?

In this podcast we talk about having the chance to talk to anyone who ever existed; past or present, real or fictional. Why would you want to talk to someone who you have never met? What is it that you want to know? How do you think that would help you? Who would you pick and why?

My choices are Jesus Christ, Abraham Lincoln, and Mr. Spock. Each for wildly different reasons. I have specific things that I would want to know. Mostly I want to listen to them speak. So, If you had an hour with three persons, would you use it? What would the criteria be that you use to pick them? How would you prepare? This is an interesting thought exercise and a powerful reflection opportunity.

In this podcast, we talk about some of the frustrations with setting goals. Sometimes we want to get something done or change part of our lives. We don’t know what it takes and so we start without much planning. Things are more difficult than we thought (like every time) and then we give up.

Does that mean we should never plan? Does that mean it is all up to the luck of the draw? No. Part of the planning process is learning to estimate and then adjust. Every goal has struggles and setbacks. Especially for goals as lofty as creating your Ultimate Life. Even goals that are squishy, like relationship goals or spiritual goals can be quantified enough to create plans and measure progress.
